Welcome to this journey through our rainforest. The Virgin Jungle Reserves (VJR), touted as one of the oldest rainforests in the world, will provide a spectacular backdrop for the Malaysia Ultra-Trail by UTMB, while the “Malaysia Truly Asia” hospitality will bring the event to life with its glorious melting pot of traditions and flavours. Malaysia Ultra-Trail by UTMB will be hosted in the small historical town of Taiping, located on the northwest of Peninsular Malaysia in the silver state of Perak. Taiping is recognised as one of the most sustainable cities in the world and and celebrated its 150-year anniversary in 2024.
Malaysia Ultra-Trail by UTMB will see runners strive to achieve their best across one of five distances, the MY13, MY25, MY50 and MY100.
Every runner will be treated to unforgettable experience as they explore a variety of trails around Taiping Lake Gardens and the iconic Maxwell Hill, and for those in the MY50 and MY100 categories, an adventure of a lifetime into the Virgin Jungle Reserves.
The MY13 is the “Freshman Run”. Featuring well-mixed terrains and an elevation gain of 419m, this course is perfect for beginners.
The MY25 course undulates uphill and downhill, and with 1252m of elevation gain this race is known as a real lung buster! Runners will cross two rivers that flow downhill and are taken deep into the forest reserves surrounding Burmese Pool and Maxwell Hill.
A new and runnable MY50 course with better scenery. MY50 runners will be running through the infamous KTM tunnel with lower elevation gain.
Malaysia Ultra-Trail by UTMB® incorporates two ultra distances with the MY50 and the MY100. Both races guide runners through pristine jungle trails and feature 1977m and 4802m of elevation gain respectively. In 2026, a Vertical Kilometer (VK) Segment Challenge will be built into the MY100 race, where the fastest male and female through the VK segment and goes on to complete the MY100 race will be honoured on stage.
