COURSE DESCRIPTION
The race will start and finish at Jalan Kota, Taiping.
The course will take runners through the iconic Taiping Lake Gardens, where they may hear the calls of wildlife from the nearby Taiping Zoo & Night Safari.
From Taiping Lake Gardens, runners will begin their first major climb to The Box via Murugan Temple before continuing to the new AS1 at Angkasa. At 1,036 m above sea level, runners will enjoy their first views of Taiping and the Straits of Malacca. This section will also feature the Vertical Kilometre Segment Challenge. The fastest male and female runners to complete the segment and subsequently finish the MYULTRA100 will be recognised as the 2027 King and Queen of Vertical.
From AS1, runners will descend to AS2 at Maxwell BaseCamp before continuing via Burmese Pool and Speedy Hill to AS3 at Tiger Temple. Upon exiting Speedy Hill at Sasanakkha Buddhist Sanctuary, runners will enjoy their second elevated view of Taiping and the Straits of Malacca. Front-runners may also experience the forest coming to life at daybreak.
After Sasanakkha Buddhist Sanctuary, runners will cross the first river near Tiger Temple using concrete platforms designed to keep their feet dry. From AS3, runners will follow undulating trails to AS4 at Spritzer EcoPark, passing through palm estates, durian plantations, and Malay reserve villages around Ayer Kuning.
From AS4, runners will continue to AS5 through the durian-covered hills of Bukit Cempedak and Bukit Melayu. Along the way, they will enjoy views of Taiping and, at several points, Mount Bubu (Gunung Bubu), which rises to 1,657 m above sea level.
Between AS5 and AS6, runners will follow a section of the historic pre-war railway line and pass through its tunnel.
AS6 marks the halfway point, where runners may collect their drop bags, change into fresh gear, and enjoy a hot meal.
Runners will then continue to AS7 at the Ayer Kuning turnaround, passing through a forest reserve and coconut plantation with elevated views across Ayer Kuning Village towards Taiping and the Straits of Malacca.
From AS7, runners will head to AS8 at Peak 300, with views across the valley between Ayer Kuning and Tar Mo.
From AS8, runners will travel through the Virgin Jungle Reserves towards AS9 at Maxwell Hill. The demanding 7 km ascent gains 1,200 m to reach the summit at TM Tower (Menara TM), followed by a 3 km descent to AS9 at Angkasa. From the summit, runners may enjoy panoramic views of Taiping, the Straits of Malacca, and Penang Island.
From AS9, runners will descend 10 km and 1,000 m to AS10 at Maxwell BaseCamp, with intermittent elevated views of Taiping and its surroundings. The final stretch returns to the finish line at Jalan Kota, beside the Taiping Land Office and Kwantung Association, via Taiping Lake Gardens, Taiping Prison, and Taiping New Club.

SUPPORT CREW
We love support crews almost as much as our runners at Malaysia Ultra-Trail by UTMB – you are always the most colourful (and loudest!) and a huge part of the magical atmosphere of the whole weekend. However, to keep the event manageable as well as fair and safe for all athletes, we do not allow support crews to provide assistance.
But you have the very important job of getting your runners to the finish line, hence we welcome spectators to cheer on the runners at selected aid stations.
- Spectators are only allowed at :
a) AS2 & AS10 Maxwell BaseCamp b) AS3 Tiger Temple c) AS4 Spritzer EcoPark d) AS6 Changkat Ibol - Pacers are not allowed for the MYULTRA100
- Spectators cannot run alongside their runners at any point on the course outside of the aid stations and may only cheer on their runners on the above-mentioned AS.
- Legal assistance are only allowed at AS4 Spritzer EcoPark & AS6 Changkat Ibol.
